Images in About Me: A Full Guide Using Emojis

Tips & Tricks Sep 25, 2022

If you are even mildly active in the Netcord Discord server, you've likely seen Roonie's about me and wondered "Hmm, how did he do that?". Turns out it's not actually an image that's embedded there – it's simply a bunch of emojis.

Roonie's Discord account

Well, fear not my friends! Today I'm going to be showing you how to add your own images to your About Me! By the end of this article, you will be able to have any PNG/non-PNG image, or logo in your Discord About Me.

You MUST have Discord Nitro in order for this tutorial to work.

Ready to flex on your friends?  – Let's start!

What you need to get started

  • A browser & internet connection
  • The image you want to place in your about me (.png or .jpg format)
  • A private server (this is optional - but prefered. make one if you don't have one already, you should be the only person in the server)
  • Enough space in your about me to add the string for the emoji (it takes more space than you'd think)

Your Image

The image you choose for your about me can be anything! Your logo, a custom icon, as long as it's a .png or .jpg image file, this will work!

Splitting the Image

The first step to your new beautiful About Me is to split the image you are using into separate smaller ones. This can be achieved by using Image Splitter

Image Splitter - cut image in to pieces - Free online tool
Image splitter is a free online tool, where you can split images in to pieces in all directions (vertical, horizontal or both). Splitter is added in image, user can drag and place the splitter in the position, where they want to split the image exactly. Split image in to piece option is used to spli…

Simply upload your image, select the size SPLIT INTO PIECES (X x Y) and type in either 2 x 2 or 3 x 1.

Examples of different size splits

3x2 Split (6 emojis, 145 characters) | @Roonie#1255
1x3 Split (3 emojis, 73 characters) per 'tag' | @messyhunk#1969

Uploading the Split Images as Emojis

  • Once you have chosen your desired size, click Split Image.
  • Next up, click the Download Now (.zip) button to download the files together
  • Extract the .zip so you can work with the files.
  • Then, in Discord, navigate to your Server Settings > Emoji > Add Emoji
  • Select your images in the pop out, and give them the smallest possible names eg :1_:

Continue naming your emojis in appropriate sequence. :1_: :2_: :3_: :4_: like so.

Adding Emojis to your About Me

Go to User Settings > Profiles and start typing out your sequence in your About Me. Make sure you don't have any emojis with the same names, it could get a little messy.

Things to Beware of

  • Emoji ID Strings can take up a lot of space in your About Me, so make sure that they only have 2 character names so you have enough room in your About Me left to add text.
  • You can split the image in any way you want, but make sure that the numbers in the X & Y boxes are equal.
  • You must have Discord Nitro to be able to use server emojis in your About Me.
If you do not have Nitro, you will be unable to add emojis other than default emojis to your About Me.

And there you go, you can now add Images to your Discord About Me! Epic Out✌️
